Arab Voice-Muscat -Oman
The Al-Den Theatre Group for Culture and Art has announced the date for the 5th edition of the Al-Den International Festival – “Hello World in the Sultanate of Oman”, to be held in partnership with the Oman Automobile Association – Active Oman in Muscat from 25 to 30 November 2025.
The festival will feature 18 theatrical performances from Oman, the Arab world, and beyond, continuing its journey as a bridge that unites human creativity and Omani identity in their most beautiful expressions.
This year’s edition presents a rich and diverse program structured around three main theatrical competitions, which form the heart and soul of the festival:
The Children’s Theatre Competition, dedicated to nurturing imagination, developing artistic awareness among young audiences, and highlighting theatre as an educational and cultural tool that promotes human values, creativity, and tolerance.
The Adult Theatre Competition, which embodies mature artistic experience and tackles social and human issues through aesthetic and intellectual lenses that enrich the Arab and international theatre scene.
The Street Theatre Competition, which brings art closer to people in open spaces and public squares, reviving the essence of theatre as a living, breathing art form that engages the audience directly and transforms everyday spaces into creative arenas for all.
Complementing these competitions is a vibrant cultural and artistic program, one of the hallmarks of this edition. It includes “Atheer Poetic Nights”, presented in partnership with Atheer Media Foundation, serving as a platform celebrating the power of words, poetry, and melody.
Poets from across the Arab world will illuminate the festival evenings with their verses and emotions, creating a beautiful fusion of poetry, theatre, and music that reflects Oman’s cultural spirit and its openness to universal beauty.
The accompanying program will also feature specialized training workshops in directing, acting, scenography, and performance arts, as well as interactive and critical forums that bring together theatre professionals, critics, and scholars to exchange ideas and experiences about the future and evolution of theatre in the Arab and international contexts.
Adding a distinctive social and touristic dimension, the festival will host a Crafts and Family-Run Business Market, connecting art with everyday life and offering visitors a comprehensive cultural and tourism experience that showcases the depth of Omani heritage and the diversity of its traditional crafts and local arts.
In this regard, Mohammed bin Salem Al-Nabhani, President of the Al-Den Theatre Group for Culture and Art, stated that the festival enjoys the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth as the strategic partner, alongside the Ministry of Information as the media partner, the Ministry of Social Development as the social partner, and Atheer Media Foundation as a supporting sponsor.
He also announced that Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate will be the Tourism Guest of Honour for the 2025 edition, symbolizing authenticity, beauty, and the deep-rooted cultural geography of Oman.
Al-Nabhani emphasized:
“The Al-Den International Festival has never been merely an artistic event; it is a complete cultural and human ecosystem that strives to position the Sultanate of Oman as a global theatre destination, a hub for intercultural dialogue, and a meeting point for artists from across the world.”
He added:
“Through its three competitions, poetic nights, and interactive training programs, the festival fosters creativity, enriches the awareness of new generations, and contributes to building a vibrant and sustainable cultural landscape.”
A Bright Journey Through the Years
Since its first edition in April 2015 in the Wilayat of Samail, the festival has carried the slogan “Theatre Begins with Childhood”, placing children’s theatre at the forefront of its mission, recognizing its role in shaping the imagination and values of future generations.
The second edition (December 2016) expanded participation to include Arab countries, becoming a platform for artistic dialogue among Arab theatre professionals and strengthening cultural exchange and collaboration.
The third edition (October 2018) consolidated this Arab presence, broadening its critical, training, and media aspects, affirming that the festival is a platform for development, not merely for performances.
The fourth edition (October 2023) marked a major leap to the international stage, featuring performances from multiple continents, and establishing Oman as a creative destination for global artists under the iconic slogan: “Hello World in the Sultanate of Oman.”
Theatre... Oman’s Window to the World
The Al-Den International Festival has become a space of culture and humanity, where Omani identity harmoniously intertwines with global creativity, presenting a radiant image of the Sultanate of Oman as a nation that breathes art and extends the emotional and human essence of theatre.
It embodies a national vision that believes art is an integral part of development, culture is a bridge of peace, and theatre is a light that guides humanity toward understanding itself.
The Al-Den Theatre Group is set to hold a press conference in early November 2025 to unveil full details of the fifth edition, including participating performances, distinguished guests, honorees, and international partnerships—affirming the festival’s role as an annual event eagerly awaited by theatre lovers in Oman and around the world.
